Cup Of Tea

Hi friends,

What we learned at our Parent/Child “Cup of Tea” Workshop

We are big fans of self-soothing strategies rooted in the five senses. In our recent holiday workshop, we focused on the senses of taste, smell, and touch as we brewed a pot of calming tea and mixed our own specialty herbal blends.

Our group of moms, dads, daughters and sons wrote down their stressors and brainstormed solutions. Perhaps their strategies can help you get through the holidays in good cheer.

  1. Slow down. Break things into chunks. Keep trying.
  2. Be flexible. Just do it. Ask questions if you need answers.
  3. When you are in a stress bubble, walk through the portal. Go outside!
  4. Breathe. Prioritize.
  5. Drink more water. Take care of yourself.

The end of the year is a stressful time, but also offers so many opportunities for connection and relaxation. Go-to strategies for relaxation can be a benefit to you and your loved ones.

In our end of group check-in, one boy described his emotional state: “I guess I’m calm because I’m talking all low and I’m being all reflective.”

We wish you low voices, plenty of reflection and most of all peace and love in this holiday season.
